New Global Cool Cities Alliance

Posted by Webmaster on 1. June 2011 17:18

An exciting new initiative, Global Cool Cities Alliance (GCCA), has been launched to advance policies and programs that increase the solar reflectance of our buildings and pavements to promote cool buildings and cool cities, and, most importantly, to mitigate the effects of climate change through global cooling.  This new initiative will be led by Kurt Shickman, the current Director of Research for Energy and Climate at the United Nations Foundation and its domestic energy policy initiative, the Energy Future Coalition.  The Global Cool Cities Alliance will be working through partnerships with other networks dedicated to city‐level action as well with leading real estate, science, and building efficiency groups, and through direct work with cities and companies globally.See the press release below for more infomation!

I am a property manager for the city of Aventura in South Florida and we have been looking to an alternate solution to the energy crisis we are having. We are currently using solar power to power the traffic cameras. We are too looking to expand the uses of solar power and this post is very interesting.

Global Cool Cities Alliance is a great initiative, I really like the trend. In most cases, climate problems are just a matter of managing and distributing energy in the right way.
