DOE Building Technologies Releases Notice of Intent for Energy Savings through Improved Mechanical Systems and Building Envelope Technologies

Posted by Webmaster on 5. January 2012 10:09

Later this month, DOE's Building Technologies Program (BTP) intends to release a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to develop innovative technologies for buildings that can have a tremendous impact on energy savings overall and lead to a market-ready solution within five years of project launch. The Notice of Intent is designed to provide an opportunity for potential applicants to begin developing partnerships and begin the process of gathering data to prepare their application.

Topic areas within the FOA may include energy saving heating, ventilation and air Conditioning (HVAC) systems and components, which may include areas such as heat pumps, non-vapor compression technologies, compressors and heat exchangers. It may also include energy saving building envelope and window systems and components, which may include areas such as thermal insulation, advanced roofing, highly insulating windows and advanced materials for retrofit solutions.

DOE anticipates that $9-12 million would be available for 5-8 new awards under this announcement.  Awards are expected to run for up to 36 months, and DOE funding per award is anticipated not to exceed $1.2-1.5 million for the total project period. Please download the PDF below for more information, and visit https://www.fedconnect.net/FedConnect/?doc=DE-FOA-0000633&agency=DOE for more information on this Notice of Intent.
