During an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) hosted stakeholder meeting to discuss the Version 6.0 Energy Star criteria for windows, doors and skylights, it was announced that an EPA Most Efficient Program for window technology would be launched in January 2013. The meeting took place on Monday, August 27th, 2012.

The draft program criteria is expected to be in line with the Department Of Energy's High Performance Windows Volume Purchase Program (WVP), and is expected to be announced in the next few weeks. A stakeholder webinar in mid-September will also be announced in order to gather feedback on these Most Efficient requirements. The final requirements are expected to be set in the beginning of October.

What would requirements for a Most Efficient Program for windows look like? In addition to more stringent U-factor requirements (the WVP uses a U-Factor of ~0.2), the initial Most Efficient windows program will require structural product certification.
