Update on the EERE Linking Policy

clock April 16, 2010 13:53
Over the last few months, we've been working to update the EERE Linking Policy, which describes what external Web sites you can link to and how.

Our linking page now lists our only two requirements: Follow the DOE Linking Policy, and tell visitors when you link offsite. [More]

EDIT: The updated Linking Policy is currently in review and, unfortunately, will not be live on the site until that is completed. We apologize for announcing a change that is not ready to be viewed on the site. If you have any questions, please leave a comment.

Not very long ago, we announced that we had completely updated the EERE Linking Policy—the policy that explains which external Web sites you should link to from EERE Web sites, and in what context. [More]

The New EERE Linking Policy

clock January 8, 2010 18:06
We've recently updated EERE's Linking Policy to make it clearer and easier to understand. The Linking Policy explains how and when you can link to any Web site outside of EERE and, as a site-wide policy, it can be found in the footer of every page on EERE, in the EERE Web Policies. [More]

Parking Lot Questions: YouTube, the Multimedia Site, Video Formats

clock May 19, 2009 12:52
On April 30, the EERE Web Team presented on standards, social media, and multimedia at the April 2009 Web Coordinators Workshop. During the workshop, we wrote down several questions that we weren't able to answer during the already packed-to-the-brim presentations.

Over the next couple of weeks, I'm going to go through our parking lot questions and answer them here on the blog. And if you have any other questions, or are confused about the answers here, feel free to chime in and comment on these posts!

But, before I begin, I'd like to remind everyone: As we mentioned during the workshop, there are some issues that we do not yet have processes, standards, or even guidelines for. When we don't have hard-and-fast standards for you, we'll try to at least tell you what we're working on and what you should do in the interim.

With that said, let's move on to the questions for this week:

How will YouTube affect where EERE videos will be hosted?
How do we submit new content for the EERE Multimedia site?
What do we do with videos in Windows Media format? [More]

New Standard for Linking to External Sites

clock March 12, 2007 08:00
The standards require that we notify visitors when they are leaving an EERE site. EERE's preferred method for notifying visitors is to identify the destination Web site in the link text or in the surrounding description. [More]
