Now that the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy is migrating into the energy.gov environment, our video standards are evolving, too. The Videos page on Communication Standards explains the new process for posting your videos to U.S. Department of Energy's YouTube channel.

All videos—regardless of content—will now be posted on energy.gov's YouTube channel. You'll need the following items to post a video:

  • The video. It should be in MP4 format.
  • A caption file. This is an SCC file (or other YouTube-approved caption file type). Your Lead Contractor can create these.
  • The title of the video.
  • A short description of the video.

The technical requirements for each of these items are outlined on the Videos page.

Please note that EERE's accessibility requirements for videos have not changed. All videos are still required to have captions and a text version.

If you have any questions, you can ask in the blog comments or send an email to the Communication Standards webmaster.
