Next Thursday and Friday (February 14-15th) in Ann Arbor, the University of Michigan Clean Energy Venture Challenge will be hosting an event to judge their competition participants and showcase the winners and other participants. The Clean Energy Venture Challenge is a part of the Clean Energy Trust's Clean Energy Challenge. The Clean Energy Challenge is one of the regional competitions held as a part of the National Clean Energy Business Plan Competition. 

The Clean Energy Venture Challenge is a six month program that enables teams to go from an idea to venture launch.  Teams not only present their ideas, they will put them into practice.  They are given training and paired with mentors who will help them move their company forward.  They learn the skills needed to start a successful company, both through classroom learning and trial and error.

Participating teams learn cutting edge entrepreneurial skills such as customer discovery and business model canvas development. Additionally, they have the opportunity to meet regularly with mentors and venture capitalists and have access to a micro grant program offering up to $2,500 in grants for each team to move their business forward. All participating teams will receive recognition for their accomplishments and a few teams will also be awarded additional prizes and potential investments totaling $50,000 or more.

The public is welcome to attend the Lunch Reception and Poster Session as well as the awarding of the finalist at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan next Friday. And if you can't attend in person, the event will be live tweeted! You can find the live tweets with the handle @umcfe on February 15th. We encourage anyone in the area to attend this exciting event, particularly those who are interested in innovative and cutting-edge clean energy technology!
